Dr. Michael D. Gooch brings over 25 years of nursing and EMS experience to MED-ED’s courses. He is board-certified as an acute care, family and emergency nurse practitioner. He is also board-certified as an emergency, flight, transport and trauma nurse. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings that range from rural emergency nursing to a Level I trauma and tertiary care center and include ground and air medical transport. Michael received his MSN from Vanderbilt University and graduated from Loyola University Chicago with his DNP. He is a nationally recognized speaker and published author regarding varied emergency and transport nursing topics. He serves on the editorial board of the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal as a column editor.
Dr. Gooch is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and is also faculty with the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. He practices as an emergency-flight nurse practitioner in Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he has completed over 1,600 patient transports during his tenure with the Vanderbilt’s LifeFlight transport program. Michael is a founding member of the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and serves as the Southeastern regional director. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Air & Surface Transport Nurses and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
