CREDENTIALS: RN, BSN, CEN, CCRN, CPEN, CFRN, TCRN, EMT
Michael began his medical career in prehospital EMS as a full time EMT. In 2007, he became an RN and worked in the emergency department. He later moved into the role of staff nurse in cardiac care, eventually becoming charge nurse and coordinator. As a coordinator in structural heart treatment, he gained extensive knowledge of mechanical circulatory support, structural heart disease and advanced heart failure.
Michael obtained his Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification in 2014, his Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) and Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) certifications in 2015, his Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification in 2017 and obtained certification as a Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) in 2018. Michael is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) and was a 2017 Life Saver's Award recipient from the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation.
He has lectured on structural heart conditions, ECG interpretation, emergency thoracic conditions, prehospital stroke care and time-sensitive emergencies, among other topics. He also teaches the Trauma Nursing Core Course and Stop the Bleed classes in the community. As educator, Michael maintains a bedside role in patient care to teach during many daily patient encounters.
